Abstract |
A large number of research on spirituality focus on defining and understanding the relevance of this
phenomenon at the workplace. The number of research that focuses on empirically testing the spirituality benefits to organizations and employees is comparatively fewer. Thus, this study focuses on providing empirical support for the theoretically established connection between spirituality at work and job satisfaction. This study explores the relationship among workplace spirituality, employee engagement, and teaching satisfaction and tries to determine whether the dimensions of spirituality at work, as well as, forms of employee engagement could predict teaching satisfaction. Data were collected from high school teachers who work in government schools in a southern state in India. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to build and analyze the underlying relationships among workplace spirituality, employee engagement, and teaching satisfaction. Results show that significant positive connections exist among the dimensions of workplace spirituality, employee engagement, and teaching satisfaction. The results underline the relevance of spirituality as well as employee engagement in the nonprofit sector.
